Quick update

I am engaged, but you probably already knew that. It's been a couple of months, and we're just now starting to think about planning the wedding. So, wait, stay calm. We have yet to choose a date, and you haven't missed anything.

It would be fun to dial it back to December 9th, AKA probably the most stressful day of my adult life. This is interesting because I have done plenty of public speaking, and heck, one time, I led a Seabee platoon right into an ambush on a field training exercise. Blank rounds were firing, I had some fun night vision goggles on, and I stood there with a dumb smile. Not a thought to be had in my little brain.

Snap forward to December 9th. I had practiced a few speeches in the weeks leading up to what I would say, and boom, nothing. Well, that's not entirely true. I said, " You've always been my best friend, and I couldn't see myself with anyone else. Will you marry me?". It could have been better, but I definitely froze up, and there's no way to simulate that stress level. The weeks leading up to the big day didn't help either; I did a lot of overthinking and underthinking.

I recruited some of Ashley's friends to help me on the big day. As the day approached, I felt like I was starting to spread some of my stress, which was not a good look, but in the end, it came together, and we could coordinate friends from the outside; it didn't look too bad. I forgot to bring in the electrical unit that powered the cool LED lights, so that will have to sit in rice for a bit.

Overall, my regrets were strictly planning, and I am so glad I finally took the plunge with my best friend and future wife, Ashley. I am looking forward to getting more Shake Shack with her and some quality dates as she continues with her graduate program.
